editorial and high fashion inspired pregnancy portraits, draped silk maternity photos, wrapped in silk, maternity session ideas, flowing fabrics pregnancy photos
I met with Stephanie at her home in Haverford for her Styling Session. After getting to know her, I knew she wanted something dramatic...and oh how I love the drama. When we started planning her maternity session, we were keeping her newborn session in mind as well so that we could create something amazing. Steph selected the Newborn and Maternity Album, so I wanted to make sure that the maternity pictures looked amazing side by side with her baby boy's newborn pictures. Then she threw me a curveball...her favorite colors are jewels tones, blues, and purples. Not always the easiest thing to create a jewel toned image for a boy.
I purchased a gorgeous sapphire blue maternity dress in lace and chiffon for her outdoor maternity session in Swarthmore...so feminine and delicate, but would pair perfectly with a newborn boy session. I then selected the perfect piece of silk chiffon for her in-studio maternity session. I created a backdrop in blue green jewel tones that would pair well with the neutral maternity fabric.
Combined in the Album, they were amazing side by side. The brighter teals and dusty purples for Christian's newborn pictures were perfectly paired with similar tones from Steph's maternity photos.
This image was definitely the favorite from her maternity photography session. I created it imagining the Renaissance paintings hanging in museums I've seen around the world.
